One call we tend to get again and again is about hail damage from the storms that roll through Central Arkansas. Whether you know it is hailing or not, the damage will be evident whenever you see small or large dents on your garage door. Can Hail Damage Be Repaired?

Whenever your garage door takes a beating from a hail storm, you may think you can just call your local garage door guy and have them pop out the dents like you can with a car that has had minor hail damage. If the hail storm caused a very small dent, we can likely just suction the dent out or push it out from the inside of the garage door. 

This is a repair that is much more difficult to do than it sounds. This is because whenever a dent is “popped out” from a garage door, the outside is not smooth like a vehicle would be. Therefore, it isn’t possible to cover the damage as easily. We will likely have to replace the panels that are dented on the garage door. Or even just replace the entire garage door if the hail damage is severe enough.

If we just replace one panel, we have to be sure that the original manufacture is still creating the same style panel as we are replacing. Does Hail Damage Affect The Function of Your Garage Door?

If your garage door has expereicned significant hail damage, you may be concerned about the function of your door and if there are any safety concerns associated with the damage. Is the damage just cosmetic or is it a more serious problem? Typically hail damage is solely cosmetic and will not impact how your garage door works. Hail can be strong enough to knock out the glass in your garage door windows and this would pose as a security threat and needs to be repaired as soon as possible by one of our licensced technicians. 

If the hail damage strikes in the right place, it could become more than a cosmetic problem. The frame and joints of your garage door can be damaged if the hail hits directly into those places. This type of structural damage can keep your garage door from operating properly. This can cause your garage door to have a difficult time opening and closing properly.

The day after a hail storm, call a technician to come assess the damage and give you an estimate on what the cost of repairs will be. You will also need this information if you are going to file a claim with your insurance company.

Can All Damage be Rapaired?

Unfortuantely, as we stated earlier, some damage is past the point of repair.
